Narrative
He’s intelligent
He’s loving. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. During season 8, Angel Batista wasn’t always played by David Zayas.
Dexter Morgan: I lived in the dark for a long time
His son, David Zayas Jr., replaces his father in some photos, as the two bear an uncanny resemblance. Visible throughout the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in season 2, the scar shifted to his right side, leaving his left side unmarked…
True to Jeff Lindsay’s books
Over the years, my eyes adjusted until the darkness became my world and I couldn’t see. Main Theme Written by Rolfe Kent Performed by Rolfe Kent. Absolutely brilliant.
The fact that he is an expert in bloodspatter is a given
The visual contrast between the darkness of Dexter’s secret life and the glitz of Miami adds an almost surreal quality. The character development is on point, slowly revealing the backstory so that one can see the development of Dexter’s sociopath personality and his confusion of human behavior compared to his own. Dexter is an actor in his own life; his relationships with his peers and personal life are well portrayed in the video media.
The developers of this series should also look at the books by Andrew Vachss
This is a dark work, but set in the bizarre world of life in Miami, it is almost believable.
