Paul King, the director of the previous two films, decided not to direct this installment
Paddington returns to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who now lives in a retirement home for bears. Accompanying the Brown family, an exciting adventure begins when a mystery takes them on an unexpected journey. However, he came up with the idea for this third film and was involved as an executive producer.
Paddington in Peru is a pretty good film, if not particularly noteworthy
Starring Graham Norton: Billy Crystal / Emily Mortimer / Hugh Bonneville / Pharrell Williams / Michael Kiwanuka (2024). It obviously doesn’t reach the heights of Paddington 2, but it’s probably on par with the first one. With a different director at the helm, this film also takes a different angle, as it moves the action from London and places it in the Peruvian jungle.
It’s a pretty interesting story that flows quite well and keeps a decent pace
This is probably a wise choice, as it helps the film feel fresh and different from the other two. It also gives way to a slightly different kind of story, with this perhaps more adventurous and exciting feel. The humor is a little mediocre, but it’s definitely more geared towards kids, so that’s more a reflection of my age than anything else.
It’s cute and delicate
I also feel like the emotional side is a little lacking. I remember Paddington 2 making me cry, but this one feels a little more tender. I actually think that word sums this movie up.
