"Star Trek: Below Decks" focuses on a support crew working aboard one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the USS Cerritos, in the year 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford, and Tendi must juggle their duties and social lives, often while the ship is in active service. The series has shaken up many science fiction anomalies. The ship’s bridge crew includes Captain Carol Freeman, Commander Jack Ransom, Lieutenant Shax, and Dr. T’Ana. It is the second animated addition to the franchise after the 1973-74 installment of "Star Trek: The Animated Series" but it has a decidedly more mature tone and humor.
